Nothing new to report, today. It's cold. Bitter cold. Somewhere, people are playing baseball, though.

Plastic Flowers on the Highway-The Drive By Truckers, Southern Rock Opera
I feel like an honorary hillbilly whenever I listen to the Truckers. I think I'll go smash a beer can on my forehead & listen to "Freebird".
Sunset Soon Forgotten-Iron & Wine, Our Endless Numbered Days
If this isn't the best folk record of the 21st century, I'd like to know what is.
Keep it real, friends.

If you have that bitter cold today, it could be ours tomorrow. Last night I went to Borders to pick up the CD by Van Ronk. It seems I really am longing to hear his version of "Just a Closer Walk with Thee". They didn't have it in stock, so I ordered it. I'm simply amazed at how little I know about your musical interests. The folk section was very limited at Borders, and the nearest Virgin Records is not near at all. There's always Amazon.com, but of course that requires a wait.
Wow! I'm flattered. Let me know what you think of it. His voice is very gravelly, yet very melodic at the same time. The song just after it, called "Gambler's Blues" is also very good, it's also known as "St James Infirmary", an old Louis Armstrong standard.
That being said, if you don't like it, I'll buy it off you & give it to a friend :).
